BIOGRAPHY
Gemechis Bizuayehu is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in engineering, non-profit management, business analytics, construction management, sociology, behavioral science, and healthcare. Currently, he serves as the WaSH Technical Coordinator at Relief International in Sudan, where he leads and supports the strategic planning and implementation of the WaSH portfolio across the country as the head of the sector.
Over the past 14 years, he has held significant roles in esteemed organizations such as Save the Children International, Médecins Sans Frontières, International Rescue Committee, Oxfam GB, International Medical Corps, Goal Global, and others. In these positions, he has consistently demonstrated leadership, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to improving public health outcomes. His work primarily focuses on managing and executing WaSH, sheltering, construction, energy, and non-food items programs, contributing to the health and well-being of underserved populations.
His academic journey includes a B.Sc. in Water Resources Engineering, a Master’s in International Cooperation & Humanitarian Aid, an MBA in Business Administration, and a DBA in Business Administration and Management. He has also acquired eight diplomas in project management, sociology, health science, Microsoft Excel for business, electricity, law, economics: microeconomics, and construction management. Further, he is pursuing advanced-level studies, including an MBA in Business Analytics and an M.Eng in Engineering Management. His professional certifications include Certified Humanitarian Professional, Goodwill® Career Coach and Navigator Professional Certificate, and Certified Security Risk Management Professional (SRMP-C).
His proven expertise in strategic leadership, humanitarian engineering skills, and hands-on experience, along with his dedication to improving health outcomes in various settings, make him a valuable asset at any career level. In addition to his professional achievements, he is passionate about mentoring and leading teams to address critical needs in various communities.
